Bloodshed Theater PRESENTS
Bloodshed Theater Presents: Deadtime Stories (1986)
Thursday, September 24, 2026
7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

The 80s were the Wild West, in terms of both child-rearing and what constituted a riveting yarn. The premise of DEADTIME STORIES is simple: A child with a monster in his closet (maybe?) buys time and keeps the lights on by demanding stories from his yuppie, potentially cocaine-loving, uncle. What you get is a trio of progressively demented Fairy Tales, filled with extreme and beautifully executed gore, transformation effects, lots of sex and nudity and general surrealist wackiness which is about as appropriate for children as Danzig's VEROTIKA (2019). Stories include a young man helping witches HELLRAISER their sister back from the dead, a horny 80s slasher Little Red Ridding Hood and telekinetic serial killer Goldilocks and theThree Bears. It’s deeply weird and it works.
If you collect VHS and you don't have DEADTIME STORIES on your '80s Horror Weirdness shelf then you're probably already in dreamland -- either that or the Closet Monster got you.
We are extremely excited to bring this to our micro cinema this September, as curritating films which were a big part of the VHS era and presenting them in our tape room seems so appropriate and full-circle.
