A riveting feature documentary on Austin restaurants’ struggles through the 2020 pandemic and the years that followed

On October 2nd, We Luv Video will screen TO BE SEEN, a feature documentary about Austin restaurants and their struggle for survival both during and post-pandemic. Directed by first-time director David Liu, this film weaves the stories of four Austin-based restaurants (Leroy and Lewis Barbecue, L'Oca D'Oro, Foreign and Domestic, Pho Craft) across multiple years, ending up with a film that is much more than just a film about survival. The screening will feature a Director and crew Q&A after the film.

Synopsis: When a disruption to society's longstanding tradition of restaurants arrives in 2020, four restaurants begin a journey to discover their unique business pivots needed for survival. Through the challenges of competing mandates and guidelines, extreme weather, and dramatic changes in staff and clientele, new realizations are discovered about who we are as a society and how restaurants offer a reflection into the human condition.

Filmed over several years, this film converges the stories of the four different restaurants in a unique blend of documentary interview styles and musical score, set against a sound design that amplifies the cacophony of sound that exists in each of their unique kitchen spaces.
